The Grand River is a large river in southwestern Ontario, Canada. From its source, it flows south through Grand Valley, Fergus, Elora, Waterloo, Kitchener, Cambridge, Paris, Brantford, Caledonia, and Cayuga before emptying into the north shore of Lake Erie south of Dunnville at Port Maitland. One of the scenic and spectacular features of the river is the falls and gorge at Elora.

The Grand River is the largest river entirely within southern Ontario's boundaries. The river owes its size to the unusual fact that it has its source relatively close to the base of the Bruce Peninsula, yet flows southwards to Lake Erie, rather than to central Lake Huron or Georgian Bay (most southern Ontario rivers flow into the nearest Great Lake, which is why most of them are small), thus giving it more distance to take in more water from tributaries.

The river's rural character, ease of access and lack of portages make it a desirable canoeing location, especially the stretch between West Montrose and Paris, Ontario. A number of conservation areas exist in the area of the river, managed by the Grand River Conservation Authority.

The Grand Valley Trail stretches 275 km along the river's valley between the town of Dundalk and Lake Erie.

The river was named Grande Rivière by the French during the 18th century. It was later renamed Ouse River by John Graves Simcoe for the River Great Ouse near his childhood home in Lincolnshire. The anglicized form of the French name has remained in common use.

Here's a ditch that doesn't create much of a problem for a Yamaha Big Bear 400. It's amazing the climbing power of these quads, through this ditch is muddy and still icy they can climb their way out. These trails are just west of Brantford Ontario and the Grand River where we run canoe, kayak & raft trips with Heritage River Canoe and Kayak Company ever spring, summer and fall.

Available in high quality. Like in a previous video of mine, this is a video of me driving from Mississauga, a Toronto suburb, to Pinehurst Lake, which is a conservation area (part of the Grand River Conservation Areas) around 110 km west of Toronto. Part of this drive (the part in Mississauga and on Highway 401) is very similar to the one in my "Driving from Mississauga to Waterloo via Highway 401" video, except that this time the weather was very nice. The drive begins in a shopping plaza in Mississauga, followed by Highway 401. We then exit the highway somewhere around the city of Cambridge and follow a bunch of rural roads to the destination. I don't know exactly what specific roads were taken, since I just followed my GPS, and am too lazy to look at the route or trace it. As a result, I did not label any roads except for Highway 401. Finally, I take a few laps around the actual park because my friends and I wanted to find a good place to park, so we ended up filming almost the whole place :) This time the weather is very nice, since it was an unusually warm and sunny day for this time of the year. Especially nice are the beautiful autumn colours of the trees in the video, which I think add greatly to it. Additionally, I finally figured out a secure way to mount my camera to the dashboard (using velcro strips). Unfortunately, the windshield was quite dirty at the time of filming (which was exacerbated by the spray paint on it), which is evident when the sun is shining ...

As a professional equine photographer and past competitor, I had almost seen it all, then I saw what the standardbreds could really do. The standardbred only show was held on Sunday, August 2, 2009 at Grand River Raceway in Elora, Ontario and was the 2nd annual horse show organized by the Standardbred Showcase Riding Club. If you have ever noticed how diverse the quarter horse breed look (between the halter horses, traditional stock and more refined performance horses) you ought to take a look at the standardbreds. Aside from the fact that most are bay with minimal white, no two truly look the same. But what does it matter what they look like - LOOK WHAT THEY CAN DO!!

Here's a ditch that is to slick to climb out of because of wet clay and ice. The only way out is back. Watch the way a Yamaha Big Bear 400 climbs a 45 degree bank cover in ice and mud backwards. It's amazing the climbing power of these quads. Through this ditch is muddy and still icy they can climb their way out. These trails are just west of Brantford Ontario and the Grand River where we run canoe, kayak & raft trips with Heritage River Canoe and Kayak Company ever spring, summer and fall.

Well on Saturday we decided to wake up early and go fishing, since we live in Hamilton and know REALLY god spots up North (Wasaga Beach) we had to find some where close because we slept in and we would have gotten to Wasaga Beach to late. So we went to Dunville Ontario (1 1/2 hour) from Hamilton and try another spot we know.. In the morning i seen on the weather network that we were going to get a easterly wind and if your a real fisher man you know the fish wont bite with a easterly wind =P but we tried any way, we got to Port Maitland and all we were getting was small rock bass so we headed over to Dunville Ontario to the Grand River dam and we got a few perch and some small walleye.. as the saying goes "A BAD DAY FISHING, IS BETTER THEN A GOOD DAY OF WORK" •★• RATE | COMMENT | SUBSCRIBE •★•
