Goodyear (O'odham: Valin Thak) is a city in Maricopa County, Arizona, United States. According to the 2010 census, the population of the city is 65,275. Goodyear was the third fastest-growing place among all cities and towns in Arizona of any size between 1990 and 2000.

The Cleveland Indians of baseball's American League moved their spring training facility to Goodyear from Winter Haven, Florida and rejoined the Cactus League in February 2009, after a 15-year absence. Before that, the Indians held spring training for many years in Tucson.

On April 7, 2008, Goodyear's city council unanimously approved a memorandum to fund a new $33 million baseball spring training complex for Major League Baseball's Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians. This includes a 10,000-seat park, Goodyear Ballpark. The Reds and the Indians will have separate offices, clubhouses and practice fields. The Indians, who had held their spring training in Tucson, Arizona for many years until moving to Winter Haven, Florida in 1993, agreed to return their spring training location back to Arizona on December 21, 2006.

On June 6, 2008, Goodyear won the All-America City Award, sponsored by the National Civic League.

Arizona, Goodyear Auxiliary Army Airfield #6 was built in 1943 as one of a large number of satellite airfields for the United States Air Force, which was the largest single-engine advanced training base in the world during World War Two. According to a 1992 Army Corps of Engineers Report, the Goodyear Auxiliary #6 property consisted of a total of 1159 acres. According to the "History of Luke AFB" (obtained by David Brooks from the public affairs office at Luke AFB), Goodyear Field (#6) had three 4000' x 300' runways, and the construction costs for its airdrome was $263000. Among Luke's auxiliary airfields, "Fighter & Goodyear Fields boasted the most facilities, each having separate buildings for crew chiefs, operations, supply, barracks, pit latrine, crash truck shed, generator shed and a control tower." The earliest depiction the Goodyear auxiliary airfield which has been located was on the March 1945 Phoenix Sectional Chart (courtesy of Chris Kennedy). A 1949 aerial photo (courtesy of John Arthur) depicted the Goodyear Aux #6 airfield in its original configuration, with 3 runways & a parking ramp on the southeast side. Several small buildings were just east of the parking ramp. The site was declared excess & deeded to the State of Arizona in 1949, but was then reestablished & expanded by the Air Force later that same year. It was last used for emergency landings, dart target launchings, and as an emergency drop zone for flight training missions from Luke AFB. "Luke AF ...

While driving his kids to school, Darrin "Nomad" Jackson, the former personal assistant to the rapper "Snoop Dogg" spots this "Demon Dog" coming from the storm drains in a park. After doing a double take, his cousin "Debbie Allen" urges him to whip out his cell phone and get the video. He then applied the Gangsta Lean, and rolled up on El Chupacabra with the cell phone out the window like cops on the block. El Chupacabra wasn't having that, and took off down the street to avoid capture. Darrin Jackson then followed the beast for 2 blocks, who then dipped into another storm drain located behind the Fry's Grocery Store. Talking about coming straight from the sewers! The Real Mike Epps fights the fake zombie dogs in the movie "Resident Evil". Now the fake Mike Epps sees the real zombie dog (El Chupacabra) in Goodyear Arizona! This all happened on a Yuma road which is located about 1 mile from the open desert! Is it the real demon dog? Is it a dog with mange? Or it is government experiment that got loose? Why are all the chupacabra sitings all the same breed if it is just some random sick dog? Filmed on April 13, 2011 This is the original source video. See for yourself! The Phoenix Trotting Park, a horse racing track, was originally built in 1964 in Goodyear, Arizona. It opened in 1965 and was run for about two and a half seasons. The large, futuristically designed structure gave an optimistic look for the 1960s. Originally planned to be built for a cost of about $3 million, the facility ended up costing around $10 million. Various incentives during the events that were held, such as free parking and admission did initially lead to decent attendance. However, a variety of factors led to the inevitable closing of the track. The hot weather of the desert caused events to be uncomfortable to attendees. The location provided limited means to control rain, leading to floods that caused accessibility problems. The park is also located about 20 miles outside of Phoenix and was built long before any major roads made the area easily accessible to those in the city or its suburbs. The main building of the park was used in the 1998 Charlie/Martin Sheen movie No Code of Conduct. Part of the feature involved a large explosion occurring at the track. Despite the original assurances by the production staff that no animals would be injured, hundreds of the birds occupying the abandoned structure were killed and injured when the effect went off.
