General Motors Diesel Division was a unit of General Motors and was a manufacturer of locomotives, transit buses and military products.

The locomotive unit was acquired by private investors, the transit bus divisions were purchased by TMC in the U.S. and MCI in Canada, and the GM Defense unit was purchased by General Dynamics. The engine making unit later became Detroit Diesel and sold to DaimlerChrysler AG in 2000 (now a unit of Daimler AG).

GMDD's Canadian operations were renamed as Diesel Division of General Motors of Canada Limited in 1975.

This video features a Lionel Norfolk Southern EMD SD60 locomotive. This locomotive was made in 2002 and it features Trainmaster Command Control, Odyssey speed control, dual motors, electrocouplers, and a fan driven smoke unit. The second locomotive in this consist is a unpowered SD70M-2 made by MTH Electric Trains. The train this locomotive is pulling is made up of rolling stock made by Atlas O, Lionel, MTH, and Weaver Models. The very first car in this train is a model of a Wisconsin & Southern boxcar made by Atlas O. This is a model of a real car the Wisconsin and Southern painted pink to bring awareness to the fight against cancer. Atlas O donated part of the proceeds from the sale of this car to the fight against cancer. Thank you Atlas O and the Wisconsin and Southern for supporting the fight against cancer. The track is K-Line tubular with O-81 curves and the locomotive is being operated with Lionel Legacy. The 3800 hp SD60 was made by the Electromotive Division (EMD) of General Motors between 1984 and 1995. A total of 1138 locomotives were made, including the 151 that Norfolk Southern owned. The SD60 quickly replaced the ill-fated SD50 that was made by EMD. The SD50 featured a updated, 3500 hp, version of its 16V645 diesel engine that was used in the popular SD40-2 locomotives. But the increase in horsepower led to reliability problems with the engine which hurt both sales of the SD50 as well as the reputation of EMD The SD60 line of locomotives featured the new ...

This video features the recently released Atlas O Erie EMD F3's. One A unit is powered while the other is unpowered. These locomotives are part of Atlas O's Master Line. As to be expected the detail on these locomotives is second to none. Atlas O did a very, very nice job making these locomotives. The paint and lettering are flawless. These locomotives couple very close to each other and that also adds greatly to their appearance. The powered A unit features Lionel Railsounds 4.0, TMCC, Train America Studios Engineer on Board speed control. electro couplers, and a fan driven smoke unit which I did not use in this video. It also has a die cast frame and fuel tank which helps make these locomotives sound so nice. The unpowered locomotive features a working headlight and marker lights. There is a switch on the bottom of this locomotive for both the head and marker lights to turn each on and off. In my opinion, Atlas O makes the nicest EMD F Units available in O scale. The train in this video is made up of rolling stock made by Atlas O, Lionel, MTH Electric Trains, and Weaver Models. And there is an MTH Premier caboose bringing up the end of the train. It's being operated with Lionel Legacy. The track is K-Line tubular with O-96 curves. You will also see a Lionel New York Central ALCo FA-2 ABA set pulling a freight as well as an Industrial Rail trolley pass by in this video. Please check out my other videos if you would like to see a video featuring the New York Central FA-2 ...

Original God Father General Motors WDG4 Hapa Madgaon Special meets WDP4 10104 Madgaon Mumbai Mandovi express at Majorda, 6 km from Madgaon. WDG4 UBL 12001 and WDP4 KJM 20022. Thanks to the humble pilots and the humble God Father. Dead / piggy riding loco WDM3A VTA 18610. The EMD GT46MAC is a freight hauling diesel electric locomotive with AC electric transmission built by General Motors, in 1997--1998 for Indian Railways, where they are classed as WDG4. Thirteen were built by EMD and a further eight were exported in kit form and were assembled in India. The WDG4's first operation started in 1999 with the numbering starting from 12001. This loco can still be seen homed at the parent shed of Hubli. Hubli diesel loco shed has been operational since 1999, and it houses the maximum number of WDG4's. The original WDG4's from 12001--12021 were imported and later on DLW has started manufacturing it. With six traction motors this locomotive has the capability of touching 105 km/hr with a fully loaded freight train of 58 wagons. The loco has been praised for its ability to work smoothly in regions with massive gradients and especially in the Braganza Ghats and the Subrahmanya ghats having a gradient of 1:45 and 1:50. More than 450 WDG4 locos are operational now. A new model of the WDG4, GT46ACe has been manufactured with 4500hp and has a fibre glass cabin. A new EMD locomotive classed WDG5 with 5500hp is under development at DLW.
