Gangtok ( ; Tibetan: ; Nepali and Hindi: ) is the capital and largest town of the Indian state of Sikkim. Gangtok is located in the Shivalik Hills of the eastern Himalayan range, at an altitude of 1437 m (4714.6 ft). The town, with a population of thirty thousand belonging to different ethnicities such as Nepalis, Lepchas and Bhutia, is administered by various departments of the Government of Sikkim. Nestled within higher peaks of the Himalaya and enjoying a year-round mild temperate climate, Gangtok is at the centre of Sikkim’s tourism industry.

Gangtok rose to prominence as a popular Buddhist pilgrimage site after the construction of the Enchey Monastery in 1840. In 1894, the ruling Sikkimese Chogyal, Thutob Namgyal, transferred the capital to Gangtok. In the early 20th century, Gangtok became a major stopover on the trade route between Lhasa in Tibet and cities such as Kolkata (then Calcutta) in British India. After India won its independence from Britain in 1947, Sikkim chose to remain an independent monarchy, with Gangtok as its capital. In 1975, after the integration with the union of India, Gangtok was made India's twenty-second state capital.

The precise meaning of the name Gangtok is unclear, though the most popular meaning is "hill top". Today, Gangtok is a centre of Tibetan Buddhist culture and learning, with the presence of several monasteries, religious educational institutions, and centres for Tibetology.

This song was a part of the gig we did in Cafe live and loud @ Gangtok, Sikkim, India. It is an attempted cover of 18 and life, originally by the hard rock band, Skid row. It was done a few months ago and recorded through a handy cam. The Revolving Barrel are (Girish Pradhan - Vocals, Jatin Pradhan - Lead Guitars, Ronald Pradhan - Drums, Lokesh Thapa ). The guitar's gone a bit lose at times and also, The last screaming part of the vocals has sadly not been recorded , may be due to the battery of the camera, but its kinda good anyways...good memories related to the event. Enjoy. This is the kick ass Hard Rock of the '80s...and its a scale high...ie it is in D scale, while actually the original song is in c#...So it is more difficult to sing, as the singer naturally has go to a higher pitch than the original song...Do subscribe my videos , if you like them...

Anarchy was a high school, 4 men Heavy Metal band, comprising of four members, Girish Pradhan(Lead vocals, Guitars), Urgen Tamang(Lead guitars, vocals), Pramod Tamang(Bass, Vocals) & Yogesh Pradhan (Drums, Vocals)from Tashi Namgyal Academy. There was a show held back then in the year 2004, courtesy, my dad Shyam Pradhan. We didn't have proper goods regarding the guitars and drums. All the instruments we were using were local, however, it did not matter coz our band was all about the unity of the youth of Gangtok at that time... It was a time when Rock music was alive and ruling, with bands such as ANARCHY...while "Still waters" being the band, rockin on the other side of the fence, in the hometown....Do subscribe my videos , if you like them...

My band , Revolving Barrel (Girish Pradhan- Vocals, Jatin Pradhan - Lead Guitars, Lokesh Thapa - Bass guitars & Ronald Pradhan on drums and Yogesh Pradhan on the Keyboards), had a gig in a Cafe / Pub named - Live and loud, one of the best pubs in Gangtok , Sikkim, India. We attempted a cover of the song 'Always' by Bojovi. Its not the exact cover, the keyboards and the lead guitars vary and are played by the musicians on thier own concepts. To add, the level/volume of the microphone is a bit low. Anyways its pretty tight. Hope you all enjoy it. This video was recorded through a handycam....Do subscribe my videos , if you like them...Also, Girish Pradhan Facebook Fanpage - www.facebook.com
