Exeter City Football Club ( ) is an English football club, based in Exeter, which is owned by its fans through the Exeter City Supporters Trust.

The club was a member of the Football League from 1920 to 2003. Following five seasons in the Conference National, Exeter were promoted back to League Two for the 2008 - 09 season and immediately achieved automatic promotion to League One for the 2009 - 10 season.

Exeter City was founded in 1904 and began playing on an old field used for fattening pigs, St James Park (not to be confused with the homes of Newcastle United or Brackley Town). Exeter remain at St James Park to this day. The club is nicknamed "The Grecians". For the 2010-11 season City's home kit is supplied by Carbrini Sportswear and it consists of red and white shirts, black shorts, and black socks.

The League One side made a statement on its website after a 3-2 home Carling Cup defeat by Ipswich on Tuesday (10th August 2010). "It is with great sadness that Exeter City Football Club have to confirm the news that Adam Stansfield passed away this evening," it said. "Our thoughts are with his wife, family and friends at this time." The Tiverton-born forward, nicknamed 'Stanno', joined Hereford on a free transfer in 2004 and two years later moved on to Exeter, where he made more than 150 first-team appearances, scoring 39 goals. Stansfield started his professional career at Yeovil under manager Gary Johnson who drafted him in from Sunday league football. "It's absolutely tragic. I heard it first last night and it was a total shock," Johnson told BBC ...
