Earl Ray Tomblin (born March 15, 1952) is an American politician and the Governor of West Virginia. Tomblin is a member of the Democratic Party. Tomblin is a former state senator who served as President of the West Virginia State Senate for over 16 years. He became Acting Governor in 2010 following Joe Manchin's election to the US Senate. On October 4, 2011, Tomblin was elected as Governor of West Virginia in a special election to fill the unexpired term ending in January 2013. He will be up for re-election as Governor in 2012.
