Delaware County is a fast-growing suburban county in the state of Ohio, United States, within the Columbus, Ohio Metropolitan Statistical Area. According to the United States Census Bureau's 2004 population estimates, Delaware County's population of 142,503 made it the fastest growing county in Ohio, and the 11th fastest growing in the United States from 2000 to 2004. The Census Bureau estimates its 2007 population to be 160,865. Its county seat is the City of Delaware , and both are named after the Delaware (Lenape) tribe. The county is expected to see explosive growth in the years to come, as young people that want to escape from the city move to the suburbs of southern Delaware County.

According to Forbes Magazine, Delaware County is the fifth best place in the United States to raise a family and the best place in the state of Ohio to reside. It was home to former U.S. President Rutherford B. Hayes.
