Colville is a city in Stevens County, Washington, United States. The population was 4,673 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Stevens County .

1.87 min. | 3.63 user rating		 After Colonel Nelson A. Miles received the Nez Perce surrender at Bear Paw Mountain, he was ordered to take them to Fort Abraham Lincoln. It was a cold run in the coming winter of 1877-1879, but they arrived in November of 1877. The citizens of Bismarck, Dakota Territory treated them with the most kindness and actually wanted them to stay at Fort Abraham Lincoln. The Nez Perce were transferred to St. Paul, Minnesota, then taken south to Indian Territory (present-day Oklahoma). Eventually the Nez Perce were allowed to move back to the Northwest, but only to share a reservation with another tribe on the Colville Indian Reservation in Washington. They eventually were given a reservation in Idaho. Chief Joseph used every media opportunity to make the country aware of his people's plight. He was not a war chief. He pauses for a brief encounter with wildlife before heading on down the trail. The Nomad then passes on into Idaho, and is making a climb up Parker Peak, in the Selkirk Mountain Range, trekking now in the Kaniksu National Forest.
