The Colorado Buffaloes football team represents the University of Colorado at Boulder in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision. The team is a charter member of the Big 12 Conference. However, on July 1, 2011 the program will move, along the rest of the university's athletic interests, to the Pacific-10 Conference. The University of Colorado will forfeit $6.863 million it would have received from the Big 12 Conference. Dan Hawkins was the head coach from the 2006 season through the ninth game of the 2010 season, he was fired just days after a 52-45 loss at Kansas. The Buffaloes had led that game 42-17 in the 4th quarter. Brian Cabral took over as the interim head coach. Colorado would defeat Iowa State 34-14 in Cabral's first game as coach. The football team has played at Folsom Field since 1924. The Buffs all-time record is 671-442-36 (.600 winning percentage) through the finish of the 2010 season. The football program is 16th on the all-time win list and 22nd in all-time winning percentage. The football team also has the distinction of being the all-time NCAA leader in 4th down conversions . They are one of two NCAA Division I teams to complete a 5th down conversion (the other being Cornell).

THE UNIVERISTY OF COLORADO BUFFALOES BEAT #4 OKLAHOMA SOONERS ON SEPT. 29, 2007 AT FOLSOM FIELD IN BOULDER, COLORADO. THE FINAL SCORE 27-24. HOMECOMING WEEKEND FOR CU AND DAN HAWKINS AS THEY UPSET BOB STOOPS AND THE SOONERS ON "INSANITY SATURDAY" THERE IS SOME DEBATE OVER THE RANKING FOR OKLAHOMA, BECAUSE SOME POLLS PRIOR TO THIS GAME HAD THEM AT #4 WHILE OTHERS HAD THEM AT #3, I SAID #4 BECAUSE FSN REPORTED A #4 RANKING FOR THE SOONERS, BUT AS OF MON. OCT. 1ST COLORADO DROPPED THE SOONERS OUT OF THE NCAA TOP 5 AND DOWN TO #10 (BOTH THE AP POLL & USA TODAY POLL). sports.espn.go.com 2007 NCAA Football Rankings - Week 5 (Sept. 30) Please note I do not own the copyright on this footage FSN does.
