Its name is in honor of Henry Clay, famous American statesman, member of the United States Senate from Kentucky and United States Secretary of State in the 19th century. It is part of the Wichita Falls, Texas, Wichita Falls metropolitan area. In 2010, its population was 10,752. The seat of the county is Henrietta.
