Butts County is a county located in the northern half of the U.S. state of Georgia. It was created on December 24, 1825. As of 2000, the population was 19,522. The 2007 Census Estimate showed a population of 23,759. The county seat is Jackson, which is also the center of population of Georgia.

Butts County has one radio station: WJGA FM 92.1 and one local newspaper, the Jackson Progress-Argus.

This county is a part of the Atlanta Metropolitan Area (Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta, Georgia Metropolitan Statistical Area).
