Burhanpur ( ) ( )is an important city in Madhya Pradesh state, India. It is the administrative seat of Burhanpur District. It is situated on the north bank of the Tapti River, 340 km (211.3 mi) southwest of Bhopal and 540 km (335.5 mi) northeast of Mumbai. The town is named after sufi saint Burhanuddin Gharib of Khuldabad.

The city has a Municipal Corporation, and also is one of the district headquarters of the state of Madhya Pradesh.

Burhanpur is also famous for Dargaah-e-Hakimi of Dawoodi Bohra community. (Incidentally the leader of the community also shares "Burhannuddin" in his name viz. Dr.Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin (TUS)). (See also Hakimuddin). Dargaah-e-Hakimi is one of the best Dawoodi Bohra mausoleum complexes in India.
