Boundary Peak is the highest summit in U. S. state of Nevada and is located in Esmeralda County. It is the northernmost peak over 13,000 feet (4,000 m) in the White Mountains. At 13147 ft (4007.2 m) the peak is within the state of Nevada, although it is only about half a mile (1 km) from the California border. Montgomery Peak at 13441 ft (4096.8 m) is located just across the border in California, and by most definitions Boundary Peak is a sub-peak of Montgomery Peak.
Boundary Peak is 82 ft (25 m) higher than the second highest Nevada peak, Wheeler Peak at 13065 ft (3982.2 m). Wheeler Peak is a non sub-peak and is located entirely within Nevada, and is sometimes considered the highest mountain peak in Nevada. The area surrounding Boundary Peak is protected within the Boundary Peak Wilderness Area.
