June 19, 2007 - Minnesota Twins announcer Bert Blyleven bet the best pitcher in baseball that he could not pitch a complete game shutout. The wager was Bert's hair and Johan Santana pitched a four-hit shutout.

Twins vs. Mariners. No score, top of the 7th. Michael Cuddyer has a 3-0 count. And Dick Bremer makes a fortuitous call to Bert Blyleven. The timing is impeccable.

Kirby Puckett is the greatest Minnesota Twin there will ever be! In March of 2006, I drove the the Twins Cities to watch the Kirby Puckett Commerative Program at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome after he died. A few former baseball players in attendance were Cal Ripken, Kent Hrbek, Harmon Killebrew, Ron Coomer, Bert Blyleven, Dan Gladden, along with current players Torii Hunter, Joe Mauer and Shannon Stewart.

The Average Guys of PACT-TV were media guests of the MN Twins on Saturday June 1st 2002 as this was the day Bert Blyleven was inducted into the MN Twins Hall of Fame. Here's a guy who pitched 22 seasons in Major League Baseball and pitched in three different decades 1970-1992. As a 19-year old rookie with the Minnesota Twins he won 10 games had an era of 3.18 while pitching in 164 innings and was named AL Rookie Pitcher of the Year by The Sporting News. From 1971-1980 Bert would amass an amazing record, as he averaged 270 innings over those 11 season's, he was a 20-game winner in 1973 a season that included an incredible 325 innings pitched. His curve-ball was legendary and the strikeouts that came with it, he's still 5th on the all-time strikeout list with 3701 and he's been out of the game for over 15 years. Bert pitched a no-hitter with the Texas Rangers vs CA Angels in 1977. Plus two all-star appearances, oh and a couple of world series championships. Hall of Fame? For sure! Your in our hall of fame Bert. Cooperstown is missing a gem of baseball player who's steroid-free, keep your chin up Bert you are hall-worthy. We know we forgot to list some other amazing stats, but that's what makes Bert even more of a Hall of Fame candidate. Some of the forgotten stats are 60 shutouts, 692 games. This just in... 1/5/11 Bert Blyleven received 79.7% of the votes and was elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame!!!

Click to video-exposed.info to Watch full video MLB Hall of Fame Class of 2011: Roberto Alomar and Bert Blyleven Robert Alomar and Bert Byleven have been elected to Cooperstown this year. Both men narrowly missed out on being elected last season. Alomar spent time with seven different teams during his Hall of Fame career. It is amazing to that a player of his caliber bounced around so often and never spent more than five seasons with one team. Alomar was a 12-time All-Star and won 10 Gold Gloves as a second baseman. In addition, he also won four Silver Sluggers and was the 1992 ALCS MVP, as well as the 1998 All-Star Game MVP. Alomar received 90 percent of the writer's votes this year. It should also be interesting to see what cap he will be wearing on his Hall of Fame plaque. Byleven will also be enshrined in the Hall of Fame this year. Byleven had a lengthy 22 year career in which he played for five teams. He did spent half of his career with the Minnesota Twins. Byleven won 287 games in his career and also ranks fifth on the all-time strikeouts list with 3701. He was selected for two All-Star Games during his career. video-exposed.info Byleven received 79.7 percent of the votes this year after narrowly missing out and receiving 74.2 percent last year. It has been argued that the advent of sabermetrics greatly helped Byleven's Hall of Fame chances. This certainly makes sense as he lacks some of the awards and milestones (such as 300 wins), that many Hall of Fame pitchers ...

Click Video Link video-exposed.info To watch full video Roberto Alomar and Bert Blyleven Elected to the Hall of Fame The Hall of Fame announced its Class of 2011 this afternoon, and, as many expected, both Roberto Alomar and Bert Blyleven secured the 75 percent of votes required for election. Alomar, who really should have been elected last year, appeared on 90 percent of the record 581 ballots this time and received the third-most votes of any player in history. (Alomar, by the way, received 73.7 percent just a year ago. Did that many voters hold the John Hirschbeck incident against him, or did many consider him a Hall of Famer, but not a first-ballot Hall of Famer, as if that honor came with a bigger plaque?) Blyleven, meanwhile, made it on his fourteenth try with 79.7 percent: He received just 17.5 percent the first time his name appeared on the ballot, a total that rose to 74.2 percent last year, when he missed out by just five votes. Some other notable vote totals: Barry Larkin earned 62.1 percent, up from the 51.6 he got last year, his first on the ballot. (One would imagine, with a gain like that, it won't be long before he's inducted.) Jeff Bagwell received 41.7 percent, the highest total of anyone on the ballot for the first time this year, but, sadly, a figure that's lower than it would have been if certain voters didn't have certain suspicions. And Rafael Palmiero, also in his first year on the ballot (and at the mercy of writers who clearly frown on players ...
