Bellevue ( , ) is a rapidly growing city in the Eastside region of King County, Washington, United States, across Lake Washington from Seattle. Long known as a suburb or satellite city of Seattle, it is now categorized as an edge city or a boomburb. The population was 122,363 at the 2010 census.

Downtown Bellevue is undergoing rapid change. It is currently the second largest city center in Washington state with over 35,000 employees and 5,000 residents. Based on per capita income, Bellevue is the 6th wealthiest of 522 communities in the state of Washington. In 2008, Bellevue was named number 1 in CNNMoney's list of the best places to live and launch a business. More recently, Bellevue was ranked as the 4th best place to live in America. The name "Bellevue" is French for "beautiful view".

Are you a first responder? Check out ActionVids.blogspot.com On November 16, 2006 at 7 PM, a 210 ft construction crane collapsed killing one person, significantly damaging three buildings, and blocking 108th Avenue NE in downtown Bellevue, WA (in King County). The operator, Warren Taylor Yeakey, was in the crane when it fell and suffered minor injuries. Details: the crane was being used to construct a high-rise complex, called Tower 333, at NE 4th Street and 108th Avenue NE. With a loud snap, the crane fell southeast landing its middle on the east side of Plaza 305, making the office building partially collapse, though no one in it was injured. The crane's weight (back) end also ripped into the north side of the Civica Office Commons without injuring anyone. However, the tip of the crane's arm came down onto the Pinnacle Bell Centre Apartments killing Matthew Ammon on the top-fourth floor and exposing the interior of the second and third. The end result was the crane's arm being perpendicular and laying across 108th Avenue NE. Cracks at the base of the crane caused by frozen water are likely to blame for this accident. (My description is independent and sometimes different from that of early news reports). Note: video was shot on November 17, 2006. The high angle is shot from a little above the 30th floor of the One Lincoln Tower, northwest of the crane accident. Are you a cop? Check out ActionVids.blogspot.com At approximately 8 PM on July 14, 2007, Kirkland Police tried to stop a silver Subaru suspected of DUI (in Kirkland, Washington). Apparently, the car did some improper lane changes (AKA: swerving all over the place). The female driver failed to yield to lights and sirens. Kirkland PD chased her onto southbound I-405. They called for assistance from Washington State Patrol who eventually joined the chase. Speeds were around 60-45 mph. She went pass downtown Bellevue and got onto westbound I-90. Going through Mercer Island, there was talk over police radio of "spike strips" (and I may have her something about the PIT maneuver, but I'm not totally sure). I had really bad reception, so I didn't hear exactly how they stopped her, however I assume it was with spike strips because the front-left tire was blown out. This incident came to a stop in the middle of the I-90 bridge between Seattle and Mercer Island. WSP shut down all westbound lanes for a short time, which caused a back up. An aid car responded to the scene, but was not needed. Note: I personally hate driving with a camera in my hand because I think it is dangerous. To reduce the hazard, I just held it up and did not look through the viewfinder unless the car was going under 10 mph. and I do have a camera mount in my truck, but it wasn't available to me. www.YouTube.com AuntBee09.blogspot.com Wondering how I added Closed Captions to this video? Bellevue, Washington" tiny.cc Bellevue ends De LaSalle's 151-game streak Saturday, September 4, 2004 By MOLLY YANITY SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER REPORTER SEATTLE -- De La Salle's streak is over. Bellevue High, Washington state's 3A three-time defending champion, snapped the Northern California powerhouse's record 151-consecutive win streak with a 39-20 victory Saturday night at Qwest Field in front of 24987 fans. De La Salle had not lost a game since falling in the 1991 North Coast Section championship game. The Spartans shattered the nation's longest winning streak at 72 in 1997, going on to more than double it. Bellevue, however, was not intimidated. The Spartans got off to a solid start, moving the ball 83 yards down the field to score with relative ease. But Bellevue running back JR Hasty took the first play from scrimmage 74 yards to score. For the night he rushed for 276 yards and three other touchdowns. "There were all the Internet polls, the message boards where everyone said (the Spartans) were going to blow us out. We took it to heart. We put in the work and this is the greatest feeling," Bellevue linebacker EJ Savannah said. Savannah led the Wolverines' defense with nine tackles. Bellevue coach Butch Goncharoff made it his team's mantra to "match" De La Salle's off-season conditioning program and, as De La Salle faded away in the second half, he achieved it. "This is a great feeling. We've worked eight months for this. I don't think we were intimidated coming in ...
