In particular, they cover Arlington, Braintree, Burlington, Canton, Dedham, Kingston, Lexington, Lynn, Malden, Medford, Melrose, Needham, Norwood, Revere, Saugus, Sharon, Waltham, Weymouth, Winchester, Woburn, and other Boston suburbs along Route 128. Area code 781 was created on September 1, 1997 as a split from Boston's 617, it finished February 1, 1998. The overlay code, 339, was created on May 2, 2001.
