Anthony G. Brown (born November 21, 1961) is a Democratic Party politician from the State of Maryland and is the current Lieutenant Governor of Maryland. He was elected as Maryland’s eighth Lieutenant Governor in 2006 on a ticket with Governor Martin O'Malley. Both were reelected in 2010. He is the second African American elected to statewide office in Maryland. Brown previously served two terms in the Maryland House of Delegates, representing Prince George's County. A 27-year veteran of the United States Army, he is currently a Colonel in the United States Army Reserve. Brown is the highest-ranking elected official in the nation to have served a tour of duty in Iraq.
