The Allegheny River (c-eniconælɨˈɡeɪni) is a principal tributary of the Ohio River; it is located in the Eastern United States. The Allegheny River joins with the Monongahela River to form the Ohio River at the "Point" of Point State Park in Downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Allegheny River is, by volume, the main headstream of the Ohio River.

Allegheny River Video

This is my video interpretation of the King Crimson classic song "In The Wake Of Poseidon" from the 1970 album of the same name. If you always wanted to know the words to this song, they are included here. This video contains a fantastic sunrise, beautiful PreRaphaelite paintings, some great waves at the beach, a pretty intense summer rainstorm and a flooded Allegheny river.

A low head dam on the Conewango Creek in the city of Warren, Pennsylvania (Warren County) that was built around the time of the Civil War is finally being removed. Demolition began on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 and took about two weeks to complete. This action had been delayed for years for various reasons. The footage in this video was taken on Wednesday, September 23, 2009. Once dam removal is complete, the creek (which is really more like a small river) will re-establish it's old channel through Warren -- a channel which had been submerged for a century and a half. People with homes on either side of the creek immediately above the dam will suddenly find themselves with new property as property boundaries are defined as going up to the edge of the water. Also, the Conewango Creek is a tributary of the Allegheny River. The confluence is located in Warren not far downstream from the dam site. Once dam removal is complete, fish will be able to migrate freely from the Allegheny River all the way up through the entire Conewango watershed into New York State again. This was generally not possible with the dam in place as it was not equipped with any kind of fish ladder or fish passage. For more information about the Conewango Creek, see the Conewango Creek Watershed Association website: www.conewangocreek.org http To see a float down the Conewango Creek one week after the dam was removed, see: www.youtube.com The Conewango Creek watershed encompasses nearly 900 square miles ...

This Interstate 76 bridge between Harmar and Plum, 14 miles upstream from Pittsburgh's Point, was brought down today. It's been replaced by two new bridges. Although "turnpike officials said there is no place on public property to view the demolition safely and is urging the public to stay away", we kayaked to a good, safe, public viewpoint in Allegheny Islands State Park about 2000 ft upstream from the bridge at latitude, longitude = 40.53818,-79.81494. Although some wise people proposed saving the piers to help support a possible future bicycle/pedestrian bridge, it sadly appears that proposal has died, and it will all come down. You form a unique relationship with Bald Eagle when you live along the Allegheny River. It took at least a year to train my eyes to spot them, and even now I'm surprised more times than not when they swoop from a tree overhead as I paddle below. I've snapped hundreds of pictures of them over four years, and one thing rings true of all those photos... they're not at all what I see with my actual eyes. When it comes to photographing the Bald Eagle, most of my pictures are blurry, some a mere speck with a blue sky backdrop. The footage you see here is exactly what I saw this morning, and I'm so excited to share it with you! Take a good look at the arriving eagles left claw... he's bringing breakfast! See you on the river... Allegheny Outfitters LLC www.alleghenyoutfitters.com Become a fan on facebook

Please visit www.ourtripvideos.com for full video and more free videos. You will find full description on the web site. Pittsburgh is a city of about 350000 in Allegheny County, at the center of the Pittsburgh Region in southwestern Pennsylvania; the population of its metropolitan area is about 2.4 million. It is situated at the confluence of the Monongahela and Allegheny Rivers, which meet to form the Ohio River. Pittsburgh's unique terrain has resulted in an unusual city design and a hodge-podge of unique neighborhood "pockets" with diverse ethnic and architectural heritage. Pittsburgh has a rich history and, for its size, an unusual array of cultural treasures, largely thanks to the wealth that was generated when Pittsburgh was a hub of industry.
