The Airbus A320 family is a family of short- to medium-range, narrow-body, commercial passenger jet airliners manufactured by Airbus Industrie. The family includes the A318, A319, A320 and A321, as well as the ACJ business jet. Final assembly of the family in Europe takes place in Toulouse, France and Hamburg, Germany; since 2009, a plant in Tianjin, People's Republic of China has also started producing aircraft for Chinese airlines. The aircraft family can accommodate up to 220 passengers and has a range of 3100 to 12000 km (1673.9 to 6479.5 nmi ), depending on model.

The first member of the A320 family-the A320-was launched in March 1984, first flew on 22 February 1987, and was first delivered in 1988. The family was soon extended to include the A321 (first delivered 1994), the A319 (1996), and the A318 (2003). The A320 family pioneered the use of digital fly-by-wire flight control systems, as well as side stick controls, in commercial aircraft. Although there has been a continuous improvement process since introduction, the proposed A320neo is to offer new, more efficient engines.

As of 30 March 2011, a total of 4,619 Airbus A320 family aircraft have been delivered, of which 4,532 are in active service. In addition, another 2,306 airliners are on firm order. According to Airbus, it ranked as the world's fastest-selling jet airliner family according to records from 2005 to 2007, and as the best-selling single-generation aircraft programme. The family's direct competitors are the Boeing 737, 717 and 757.

from www.flightglobal.com DUBAI -- Airbus will offer fuel-saving winglets on its A320 family aircraft beginning in 2012. The specially designed 'sharklets' will provide a 3.5% fuel burn savings on routes longer than 1500 nm. Air New Zealand will launch the new sharklets at the end of 2012 as part of its recent order for A320 aircraft. Airbus says the A321 and A319 will follow in 2013. Airbus has not yet decided if it will offer the winglet on the A318. Airbus claims the winglets will offer a boost of 110 nm in range or a payload increase of 500 kg or about 8 passengers. The winglets will not be offered as a retrofit, but Airbus says it is working with Aviation Partners to provide a simpler design on existing A320 aircraft.

Here is the finished version of my new A320 CFM56 sound for Flight Simulator. I am proud to release my new and final Airbus A320 CFM56-5A/B sound pack for Flight Simulator. These sounds are intended for the lovely Project Airbus model, but will work with other models. I made this soundpack as accurate as possible using real and digital recordings, after watching many videos of A320s, and my ability of perfect pitch. Once you load your aircraft with these sounds, you'll hear the APU System and Fans in the cockpit. You start the engines and hear the PTU system transferring the hydraulics from the Nr. 1 Engine to the Nr. 2 Engine for start-up. This sound was recorded from a real A320. You hear the humming sound of the CFM56 at idle. You spool up the engines at takeoff then hear the famous CFM56 buzzsaw-like sound of the engine's fans. Once you lift off and put up the landing gear you will hear a chime from the cabin. (Just a little realistic enthusiastic touch to add to the sounds, as in real videos you hear this sound every time after takeoff in the planes.) It features realistic cockpit sounds like the autopilot deactivation ...

This is a CFM56 soundpack for A320 family aircraft in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. This is based on sounds from other soundpacks as well as real recordings compiled together. This is still a work in progress but the final version will be coming out soon. There will also be an FSX version featuring the 3d sound cone effect, where you can hear the N1 from the front of the plane and the N2 from the back as you do on a real jet plane. But for now I hope you enjoy these sounds and please comment with suggestions on how to improve the sounds and rate and subscribe as I will be uploading more custom sounds that I make for other aircraft in Microsoft Flight Simulator. Thank you very much for watching and enjoy! :) By the way I am very sorry for the lags, and the dreadfully annoying clicking and popping noises in the sounds, the real soundpack doesn't do this it's just my crappy soundcard.
