I have entered the design competition for the medal of the Winter YOG. To make it in the final round, I need your vote. THANKS ! Link to vote: www.medaldesigncompetition.com Facebook: www.facebook.com/medaldesign2012jf All medals are designed in the same way, each composed of different elements that have their respective meaning. The elements are shown against a matt background finishing. In the lower right of the medal the Olympic rings are shown as the most important symbol for the Olympics. They are raised against the background and emphasized by a darker colour, gold, silver, and bronze, respectively. In the centre two slightly raised stripes shining in the colour of the respective medal are running from bottom to top. These stand for skis and blades, but also for a ski run or tracks and symbolize the young people's journey through the Winter Youth Olympic Games. On the medal's left side there is a raised waved half circle consisting of shiny gold / silver / bronze. The dynamic half circle depicts the world. The five stripes embracing the world stand for the five continents. Embedded in the half circle is a human being as symbol for all young athletes from all over the world. They are coloured in white (on all three medals) to show that it is Winter Olympics, staged in snow and ice. Beyond, the symbol for the human being may also be interpreted as the letter "i" reminding of the event's location Innsbruck or as the Olympic flame.
