The 2001 NFL Draft took place on April 21 22, 2001 at the theater at Madison Square Garden, in New York City. This was the 66th National Football League (NFL) draft in league history. The draft was broadcast on ESPN both days and eventually moved to ESPN2. No teams elected to claim any players in the supplemental draft that year. The first round featured sixteen players who would eventually be elected to at least one Pro Bowl. Additionally, six drafted players were elected to the Pro Bowl as wide receivers. By comparison, the 2000 and 2002 drafts had one player apiece.

The draft featured the Atlanta Falcons' selection of Michael Vick from Virginia Tech. There were 31 compensatory selections distributed among 16 teams during rounds three through seven, with Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills receiving 4 picks each. The University of Miami was the college most recognized in the draft, having 4 of its players selected in the first round. The 246 players chosen in the draft were composed of:

I took the best players from the last dacade (or so) and put them in a OVERALL draft, I judged the "best" players on career stats, Awards, Championships, (ect.) NOTES* i didnt use the 2009 draft because those players haven't been proven in the NFL yet, YOU CANT MOVE THEM UP. THEY WERE DRAFTED THERE. Drew Brees is the best player drafted WITH PICK #32! There is no one that has had a better career than rex grossman THAT HAS BEEN Drafted the same spot. Confusing yes. But thats yu have to read the discription. Ex. if Drew Brees was Drafted With the 32nd pick in the NFL Draft, and mathias kiwanuka has been drafted #32 as well, Drew Brees is obviously better. There for should be Placed as the best player taken #32 Understand? Sorry if it's confusing but ur not the only one to misunderstand it Sebastian janikowski was taken 17th overall...he's a kicker, i don't know i thought it was pretty funny.

Small-school product, tight end Stephen Skelton may soon follow in his older brother's footsteps and play in the NFL. Brother John, was drafted in 2010 and completed his rookie season as the starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals. John gladly admits Stephen is bigger, stronger and more athletic. At 6'5 1/2 and 250 lbs, Stephen is fast and arguably has the best hands of all tight ends eligible for the 2011 NFL Draft.
